Ziah, age 9

1. Impressed all the teachers at her school with her video book report on “Hank the Cow Dog”

2. Started taking piano

3. Avid reader who loves girl scouts

4. Had upper jaw “stretched” by wearing an “apparatus”

July, age 4

1. Started preschool– learning to read, write Name, Math & Science
2. Lover of all superheroes
3. Loves to dance
4. Loves to sing Mumford & Sons songs

Gato, age 4

1. Travelled to Ft. Collins for Grandkids weekend

2. Spent 2 weeks at doggie camp

3. Broke Toenail –had to be put under and wore a cone! Drove us Crazy!

Major Events of the Year

Enjoyed our vacation with 250,000 Girl Scouts at 100th Anniversary “Sing-a-long” at the National Mall
Celebrated Opa’s 80th Birthday with Madsen Clan in Virginia
Spent an October Evening with President Obama (were in line at 4 p.m.; president arrived and spoke at 10:55)

Concert Season 2012

Radiohead, fiest/bon iver, band of horses, mumford & sons, bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen

When jokenly telling the kids we were leaving them at the house alone while we go to the store (we weren’t really leaving them!!!)

Chris: What if an axe murderer was knocking down the door?

July: If he was in a costume...I’d let him.

1. Was finally released from jail after 5 1/2 years
2. Began new job at the Veteran’s Administration working with Homeless Veterans
3. Built a cider Press
4. Enjoyed Parents weekend in 5 Star hotel in downtown Denver

3. Loved taking picures of Washington monument

Our Lives Have Changed

It has been sometime (2 years) since my last post...so big changes have occurred in our little family since then...

We moved to Denver, CO (December 2006)
We bought a house (November 2007)
We had a big baby boy by c-section (8 pounds 6 ounces): July Albert Quinn Madsen (January 24, 2008)
Chris works for the Jefferson County Jail as a Detention Counselor (March 2007)
Ziah went through a series of medical tests...MRI...neurologists...opthamalogists...with no conclusion...we will have to do follow-ups each year to check progress (Nov 2007-Feb 2008)
Ziah got glasses (Feb 2008)
Susan works for the City and County of Broomfield as a Budget Analyst (July 2008)
Ziah started Kindergarten (August 2008)

Events this past Summer

We went camping in Southern Colorado with the Chris's family(May 2008)
We went camping in Utah for the McEntire Family Reunion in Logan Canyon (June 2008)
Chris and Susan Celebrated their 9th Wedding Anniversary on July 26, 2008...we got our first baby-sitter and went to a nice Italian Restaurant and to the movies
Susan's father came and helped remodel the basement and put in a bedroom for the kids (July 2008)
We went to Fairview for the Madsen Family Reunion and went on a hayride (July 2008)
Susan started working as a budget Analyst for the City and County of Broomfield after being out of the workforce for a year and a half (July 2008)
Lots of trips to Ft. Collins to see all the cousins who were there for the Summer
July starts solid foods (June 2008)
Ziah lost her first tooth (June 2008)
July got his first tooth the next day (June 2008)
July Rolls over (June 2008)
Ziah turned 5 years old (July 2008)
July sits alone (Aug 2008)
July begins to crawl (Sept 2008)
Had a big rainstorm that flooded our bedroom in the basement...boy that was fun!!! (Sept 2008)

We are both graduates!!!

Well...it is finally official...C and S are finnally graduates...yes...I know what you are thinking...didn't S graduate a couple of years ago...well not techically...there were a few burecratic hoops she had to jump through...which are finnally done!!!...YEAH!!!...let's see now...what else is going on in our lives...C started working for a professional social worker staffing agency...they send you to hospitals to fill in for social worker shortages...he is working in Tarzana in a hospital for the next 3 weeks...we are applying like crazy to any job openings that apply to us in the Seattle, Denver, and Albuquerque areas...just waiting to hear on any to know where we will be spending the next chapter of our lives...Z is doing great...she is so smart...and very creative...she got her second haircut yesterday and wow...she looks like a little girl...she is growing up so fast...

***funny things she has said lately***

While camping...Z and S pass the boys restroom...Z said that we couldn't go in there...she said that have to sit down to pee because "we don't have trunks"...

When at her 3rd year check-up...Z first sees her doctor and asks " Do you have a hurter?" (translation...do you have a shot?)

Today...while sitting on the toilet...Z cries out for her mama..."Mama", she said, "I need help with my poo-poo. I need you to help me push it out"

Well...hope all is well with all of you...we love you...

new pictures with new camera

Hey there everyone...it has been some time hasn't it...We have been so busy that this blog has gone by the wayside..we have finished school and are now looking for jobs in new towns...and then will have to move...
This weekend we went camping at this wilderness park just south of the airport in Redondo Beach...it was in the middle of a suburburn neighborhood, but the girls really loved it (we went with little Z's best friend K and her mom and dad)...hope you enjoy the pictures!
